IDMVS: configuration software for Hikrobot code readers

IDMVS is the program where a reader is found on the network, connected, tuned for image and decoding, monitored through history and statistics, set up to send results, given a new IP address or firmware, and inspected through its logs. It is for code readers: the stationary ID2000, ID3000, ID5000, ID6000 and ID7000 series, IDS modules and IDH handheld readers. Industrial cameras use a different program, MVS; SC smart cameras use SCMVS or SC_VisionMaster.

Download IDMVS

The installers are hosted on the MVisionPro server; they are the manufacturer's own packages with an English interface. Next to each button you see the version number, the date it was checked and the file size; they update automatically when the manufacturer releases a new version, after the file passes an integrity check. The SHA-256 checksum of every file is listed in the downloads manifest.

Network connection, step by step

  1. Install IDMVS and power the reader. Give the computer a fixed (static) IP address: the reader is found more reliably that way.
  2. The reader and the computer must be in the same subnet. Open IDMVS: the reader appears in the device list. If it is listed but unreachable, open «Modify IP» and set an address in the computer's subnet — static, DHCP or LLA.
  3. Connect by double-clicking the device in the list. Then set the image and decoding parameters, use the preview and the statistics.
  4. The reader is not in the list? Check power and the network indicator, the cable and the subnet, and refresh the list manually. In the client settings (Settings → General) check automatic device discovery, the model filter and the protocol (Standard, Private or both). After changing the filter or the protocol, restart the client.

IDH handheld readers over USB

A handheld reader connected over USB for configuration shows up in IDMVS in the list of network (GigE) devices: the client talks to it through a USB network driver. If the device does not appear, open Windows Device Manager → Network adapters and check that the driver is installed; reinstall it from there if needed. The driver is part of IDMVS (IDH3000 needs IDMVS 2.3.0 or newer). This connection is for configuration; sending read codes in USB keyboard (HID) mode or through a virtual COM port is set up separately, following the model's manual.

Save and transfer settings

Sending read results

In «Communication» select a protocol your reader supports and set the receiver parameters: for TCP Client, for example, the address and port of the receiving program. The set of protocols and parameters depends on the model and firmware. «One By One» mode sends codes one at a time with a set interval (100 ms by default on ID3000). If you need a single packet with all codes from one trigger, send us the model, firmware and protocol — we will confirm the format from the documentation for your configuration.

Logs and diagnostics

The reader's own log opens after connection: Load Logs, filter by Error, Warning or Info, export to a folder. For client diagnostics there is the SDK Log Tool (64-bit) with filters and export to a text file, and «Log Collection», which gathers a diagnostics archive and opens its folder. If you see an error code on screen, save it in full together with the text, the operation and the versions of the client, SDK and firmware — with that set we sort the situation out quickly.

Frequently asked questions

Does IDMVS work with ID7000 readers?

Yes. The current ID7000 manual names IDMVS as the configuration client. Industrial cameras need MVS; SC smart cameras need SCMVS or SC_VisionMaster.

How is IDMVS different from MVS?

MVS works with industrial cameras: area scan, line scan and frame-grabber based. IDMVS works with code readers. They are different programs, and both can be installed at the same time.

IDMVS does not see the reader. What to check first?

Power and the network indicator, the cable and the computer's subnet, a manual refresh of the list. Then the client settings: automatic discovery, the model filter and the protocol — restart the client after changing them. For a USB reader, the network adapter driver in Device Manager.

How do I transfer settings to another reader?

Export the set through File Access to an .mfa file and import it on a second reader of the same model with the same firmware. Import replaces the sets on the device.

Is there a localized interface?

We provide the manufacturer's English build. Connection, saving settings, sending results and logs are described on this page; anything else we explain on request.

Which functions need a license?

The IDMVS manual mentions a separate license for the reading-training tool (MVID-M key). Normal configuration and operation of a reader need no license. If you need a function with a key, write to us and we will advise.

Reader will not connect or a code will not read — ask an engineer

We supply these readers and set them up on production lines. Describe the model, how the reader is connected and what you see on screen; first reply within one business day.
