Lenses for 1″ and 1.1″ sensors (12 MP)

1.1″ is the format of 12 MP cameras on Sony Pregius sensors; the sensor is nearly square and noticeably larger than 2/3″, so optics for smaller formats will vignette in the corners. This page collects lenses with Ø16 mm (1″) and Ø17.6 mm (1.1″) image circles — focal lengths from 6 to 75 mm, C-mount. The image circle is listed per part number: it must be at least the diagonal of your sensor.

How to choose

12 MP on 1.1″ means a 3.45 μm pixel — the lens has to resolve the matching frequency, otherwise the camera's resolution is wasted and the image stays soft. Check the resolution the lens is rated for, not just the format.

FAQ

Why is image-circle diameter the first compatibility check?

The lens image circle must reach at least the sensor diagonal. This range lists 16 mm for 1-inch coverage and 17.6 mm for 1.1-inch coverage; using smaller-format optics on the larger sensor can produce corner vignetting.

What focal-length and working-distance span is available?

Focal lengths extend from 6 mm through 75 mm. The nearest listed working distance is 0.1 m, while the 75 mm entry starts at 0.5 m. Choose the pair that produces the required field of view at the available object distance.

Does coverage alone make a lens suitable for a 12 MP camera?

No. The 1.1-inch 12 MP combination is stated with a 3.45 μm pixel, so the lens must also resolve matching detail. Check the MP designation as well as the 16 mm or 17.6 mm image circle.

How much aperture adjustment do the listed lenses provide?

The widest listed setting ranges from F1.4 to F2.8, depending on the lens. Closing limits vary from F11 to F22. Aperture range must therefore be checked on the exact focal-length variant rather than inferred from the mount.

Are all 8 mm lenses equivalent within this category?

They share focal length but differ in rating, aperture, image circle, and working distance. The table includes 12 MP and higher-resolution designations, F1.4 to F2.8 maximum apertures, and both 16 mm and 17.6 mm coverage.
