Lenses for 1.2″ sensors (25 MP)

Optics for 25 MP cameras in the 1.2″ format serve tasks where one frame must show both a large part and a small defect on it: PCB inspection, print verification, measurement across the whole product. Focal lengths from 12 to 50 mm, C-mount, Ø19.3 mm image circle.

How to choose

The 24–25 MP class on 1.2″ means a 2.74 μm pixel, half the usual size. A lens rated for 5 MP becomes the limiting factor on such a camera: resolution is capped by the optics, not the sensor. Vibration resistance matters too — at this pixel size a shift is already visible.

FAQ

Why is a 25 MP lens rating important on this format?

The 24–25 MP class on a 1.2-inch sensor uses a 2.74 μm pixel. A lens rated for 5 MP becomes the resolution limit on such a camera, so matching the Ø19.3 mm image circle alone does not establish the required optical detail.

How do the two aperture groups differ in this range?

Models with 24M in the designation adjust from F2.4 to F16 and cover 12, 16, 25, 35 and 50 mm. The 40-designated alternatives use F4.0 and cover 16, 25, 35 and 50 mm.

Which options have the shortest minimum working distance?

MVL-KF1640-25MP and MVL-KF2540-25MP each list 0.08 m, the shortest stated distance in the range. The corresponding F2.4-to-F16 models start at 0.1 m for 16 mm and 0.15 m for 25 mm.

What remains common across all listed lenses?

Every model is listed for the 25 MP, 1.2-inch class with a Ø19.3 mm image circle and C-mount. Focal length, aperture pattern and minimum working distance vary, so those common interface and coverage facts are only the first filter.

Why should vibration be considered during lens selection?

At the stated 2.74 μm pixel size, a shift is already visible. Mechanical stability therefore affects whether the 25 MP optical detail can be maintained. Treat vibration control as a selection check alongside focal length, aperture and distance.
