Lighting controllers: strobe and brightness control

Controllers

A controller synchronises the flash with the camera frame and keeps brightness stable. Strobing delivers a short, powerful pulse — a part on the conveyor is captured without blur and the LEDs last longer. Digital models are driven by the camera or a PLC; analogue ones are set by hand.

FAQ

When is strobe control preferable to steady brightness control?

Strobing produces a short pulse synchronised with the camera frame. It is used when a moving conveyor part must be captured without blur, and the stated operating principle also reduces the time for which the LEDs are energised.

How is manual adjustment different from digital operation?

An analogue controller is set by hand. A digital controller is driven by the camera or a PLC, making the command path part of controller selection alongside the lighting load and the required flash timing.

Which electrical ranges appear in the controller designations?

The model designations contain different voltage and wattage pairings. Both values must be matched to the connected light; a controller cannot be selected from its family prefix or output count alone.

Why must output count be checked separately from total power?

The table contains versions indicating one, two, four, six, and eight outputs. Controllers with a similar power marking can distribute it through different output arrangements, which changes how many lighting connections can be handled.

What information should be fixed before selecting a controller suffix?

Define the voltage group, power demand, output count, manual or external control method, and whether strobe synchronisation is required. Then match the complete suffix, including POE or PCIE where it appears.
