Line scan lenses
A line scan camera captures a line rather than a frame, and the image is assembled as the web moves — this is how roll materials, glass, film and print are inspected. Its lens has to cover a long sensor line rather than the round field of an area sensor: the range covers M58, M72 and M90 mounts for sensors up to 16k, focal lengths from 25 to 150 mm.

How to choose
Selection starts from the sensor length and web width: magnification = sensor length / web width. A 16k sensor with 3.5 μm pixels is 57 mm long; to cover a 570 mm web you need 0.1× magnification. The mount follows the camera: M58, M72 or M90 — adapters exist but they change the flange distance.
FAQ
How is magnification derived for a moving web?
Divide sensor length by web width. The given example uses a 57 mm sensor line, derived from 16k pixels at 3.5 μm, over a 570 mm web and therefore requires 0.1× magnification.
Which mount families organise the lens range?
The three groups are M58 × 0.75, M72 × 0.75 and M90. The camera sets the mount choice; adapters are possible, but they alter flange distance and therefore affect the optical geometry.
What focal lengths are available for the M58 group?
M58 × 0.75 models are listed at 25, 35, 50 and 80 mm. Their apertures run from F4.0 or F3.6 to F22, and the stated lens diameters across the group are Ø42 or Ø46 mm.
How do the M72 and M90 groups differ in coverage?
M72 models span 100 to 120 mm and list Φ66 or Ø82 mm bodies. M90 versions cover 116, 120, 147.6 and 150 mm focal lengths, with listed diameters of Φ82 or Φ84 mm.
Why must working distance be checked model by model?
Working-distance entries vary substantially: the M58 models include ranges such as 100 mm to infinity and 80 to 2500 mm, while several M72 and M90 variants list multiple distances with ±5 mm tolerance.
