Telecentric lenses for sensors up to 1/1.8″
A telecentric lens keeps magnification constant: a part does not "grow" as it comes closer to the camera and does not lean with perspective at the frame edges. For measurement this is decisive — with ordinary optics the same part measures differently at different heights. The compact range covers sensors up to 1/1.8″: magnification from 0.09× to 6×, working distances from 45 to 660 mm.

How to choose
Selection starts from part size: magnification = sensor size / field of view. A 20 mm part on a 1/2″ sensor (6.4 mm) needs 0.32×. The front lens diameter of a telecentric must be at least as large as the field of view — a physical limit that makes large fields mean large, heavy lenses.
FAQ
How is the starting telecentric magnification calculated?
Divide sensor size by the required field of view. The source example pairs a 6.4 mm, 1/2-inch sensor with a 20 mm part, giving 0.32× and pointing to candidates around that magnification.
Why does front-lens diameter matter for the field of view?
The front lens of a telecentric optic must be at least as large as the field of view. This physical limit means a larger measured field also requires a larger front optic, which affects the station envelope.
What working-distance span is available in the compact range?
Listed working distances extend from 45 to 660 mm. For example, MVL-HY-6-45C combines 6× with 45 mm, while MVL-HY-009-660 combines 0.09× with 660 mm at the other end.
How is the range divided by magnification?
The four bands are up to 0.5×, 0.5–1×, 1–3×, and 3× and above. Use the calculated magnification to select a band, then compare working distance, aperture, diameter and mount inside it.
Which camera-side limits should be checked before selection?
The family covers sensors up to 1/1.8-inch. Many variants list C-mount, while individual entries give front diameter, aperture and working distance; all of these must match the camera format and mechanical arrangement.
