Core i5 processing with card expansion

Core i5-12400 processing and a Q670 chip anchor MV-VC552x, while its expanded chassis provides one PCIe ×16, one PCIe ×8 and two PCIe ×4 interfaces. Using the ×8 interface reduces the ×16 interface to half bandwidth, a constraint for card placement. Seven GigE ports include four PoE connections, and unactivated Windows 10 hosts the vision application.

The controller suits cells that combine several Ethernet cameras with a graphics, acquisition or other application-specific PCIe card. Machine coordination uses eight isolated inputs, twelve isolated outputs, eight isolated low-side driver outputs and four bidirectional differential lines. Storage can connect through two SATA 3.0 interfaces and one M.2 NVME interface, while HDMI and VGA support simultaneous independent display output.

MV-VC551x keeps Core i5-12400, seven GigE ports and four PoE ports in a 105.2 mm-high enclosure. MV-VC532x offers the same expanded slot arrangement in the Core i3-12100 tier. MV-VC572x retains Q670, the 210 mm chassis and the ×16/×8/×4 layout while moving to Core i7-12700 for the higher processor tier.

Overview

A vision controller from the top VC5000 series on the Intel Core i5-12400 processor. Seven Gigabit ports, four of them with PoE, so a camera needs a single cable. RAM is chosen by part number: 8, 16 or 32 GB; the 2T suffix adds a 2 TB hard disk for the image archive.

An expandable Q670 chassis: four PCIe slots (×16, ×8 and two ×4), an M.2 NVMe socket and a separate 24 V rail for a graphics card. 210 mm high, 7.5 kg. Choose it when the controller has to host a frame grabber, a second NIC or a GPU for deep learning.

FAQ

What slot-bandwidth condition must be considered during layout?

The controller has one PCIe ×16, one PCIe ×8 and two PCIe ×4 interfaces. When the ×8 interface is used, the ×16 interface provides half of its bandwidth, so the highest-bandwidth card should be assigned with that interaction in mind.

How many GigE cameras can use an integrated PoE connection?

Four of the seven GigE ports provide PoE. This lets four compatible cameras combine power and Ethernet on those interfaces, while three additional GigE ports remain for cameras or network connections that do not require controller-supplied PoE.

Which power inputs serve the system and an added graphics card?

A 4-pin interface supplies the system with 24 VDC and has a typical figure of 384 W. A separate 2-pin 24 VDC interface is assigned to graphics-card power with a typical figure of 228 W.

What I/O can coordinate cameras, lights and reject hardware?

MV-VC552x provides eight isolated inputs, twelve isolated outputs with NPN/PNP switching, eight isolated low-side driver outputs and four non-isolated bidirectional differential lines. Two serial ports can operate as RS-232, RS-485 or RS-422.

How does the thermal limit vary with graphics-card operation?

For Core i5-12400, the stated range with a graphics card is 0 °C to 45 °C; without one, the upper entry reaches 50 °C. The expanded enclosure measures 302.3 × 248 × 210 mm and weighs approximately 7.5 kg.
