Compact uncooled SWIR acquisition

Compact SWIR acquisition is built around a Sony® IMX990 InGaAs sensor in MV-CI013-GS-NN. It records 1280 × 1024 images over 0.4 µm to 1.7 µm with 5 × 5 µm pixels, reaching 91 fps in Mono 8. Gigabit Ethernet at 1000 Mbit/s provides the data path, and the C-mount camera can be powered from 9 VDC to 24 VDC or through PoE.

The 3 µs to 7 µs UltraShort exposure range and 91 fps rate support spectral-contrast inspection of moving items when illumination provides sufficient signal. Standard exposure extends from 8 µs to 0.1 sec, while gain spans 0 dB to 18 dB and dynamic range is 56 dB. One opto-isolated input, one opto-isolated output, and one bidirectional non-isolated I/O line on the 6-pin P7 connector support triggering and result handshakes.

Among the 1.3 MP GigE variants, this uncooled model is the compact, low-consumption option at 29 × 29 × 42 mm, approximately 100 g, and typically 2.7 W at 12 VDC. MV-CI013-GS-TF adds TEC cooling and RS-232 in a 58 × 58 × 82 mm body, while MV-CI013-GS-TH expands one body dimension to 94 mm and weighs approximately 750 g. Choose MV-CI013-GS-NN when PoE, small volume, and uncooled operation matter more than TEC-enabled packaging.

Selection and applications

High-speed visible-to-SWIR inspection. Compact spectral-contrast imaging. PoE-powered triggered acquisition.

Minimum kit: Use MV-CI013-GS-NN with a C-mount lens for the 1/2-inch sensor and required 0.4 µm to 1.7 µm band, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, and either PoE or a 9 VDC to 24 VDC supply with P7 I/O cabling as needed.

Nearby in the range: MV-CI013-GS-TF — Prefer it when TEC cooling and a 12-pin P10 connection with RS-232 are required.; MV-CI013-GS-TH — Prefer it when the 58 × 94 × 82 mm housing and –30 °C to 80 °C storage range fit the installation.; MV-CI050-Y1S-NN — Prefer it for 2592 × 2056 imaging at 120 fps over CoaXPress..

FAQ

What spectral and spatial coverage does MV-CI013-GS-NN provide?

The InGaAs Sony® IMX990 sensor covers 0.4 µm to 1.7 µm and records 1280 × 1024 pixels on a 1/2-inch format. Each pixel measures 5 × 5 µm. This combination provides visible-to-SWIR image data in a 1.3 MP camera format.

Can this SWIR camera be powered through its network connection?

Yes. MV-CI013-GS-NN supports PoE, allowing power and Gigabit Ethernet data to share the network connection. The alternative supply range is 9 VDC to 24 VDC through the power arrangement, and typical consumption is 2.7 W at 12 VDC.

Which C-mount lens characteristics should be checked first?

Use a C-mount lens that covers the 1/2-inch sensor and transmits the required portion of the 0.4 µm to 1.7 µm spectral range. It should also resolve the 5 × 5 µm pixel pitch. Confirm those optical properties across the full 1280 × 1024 image at the selected wavelength band.

What exposure ranges are available for fast SWIR inspection?

UltraShort mode covers 3 µs to 7 µs, and Standard mode covers 8 µs to 0.1 sec. At full 1280 × 1024 Mono 8 resolution, the camera reaches 91 fps. These values let exposure be selected around motion, available spectral illumination, and required signal.

How does the NN housing differ from the TF and TH variants?

The NN camera is uncooled and measures 29 × 29 × 42 mm at approximately 100 g. TF measures 58 × 58 × 82 mm and is listed with TEC cooling; TH measures 58 × 94 × 82 mm at approximately 750 g. NN also supports PoE, unlike the stated 9 VDC to 24 VDC supply entries for TF and TH.

What temperature and enclosure conditions apply to MV-CI013-GS-NN?

Operation is specified from –30 °C to 50 °C and storage from –30 °C to 70 °C. The IP40 rating applies with proper lens installation and wiring. Humidity is 20% RH to 95% RH without condensation, so installation must maintain those stated conditions.
