Colour motion capture over GigE

A 2048 × 1200 GMAX4002 CMOS sensor gives MV-CU020-90GC global-shutter colour capture at 49 fps over Gigabit Ethernet. The camera is defined by its balance of moving-object geometry, two-megapixel-class sampling, and a network interface compatible with 1000 Mbit/s and 100 Mbit/s links. Its 66.9 dB dynamic range supports controlled inspection of targets in motion.

This profile fits colour sorting, part-orientation checks, conveyor presence inspection, and observation of moderate-speed mechanisms. The global shutter exposes the frame simultaneously, while one isolated input, one isolated output, and one bidirectional line synchronize the camera with sensing and lighting. A C-mount lens attaches to the 29 mm × 29 mm × 42 mm body; optional PoE or 9 V DC to 24 V DC powers it.

MV-CU013-80UM raises the rate to 240.4 fps through USB3.0 but reduces resolution to 1280 × 1024 and outputs monochrome. MV-CS004-10GM uses Gigabit Ethernet and global shutter at 125.2 fps, with a smaller 720 × 540 raster. MV-CU060-10GC offers 3072 × 2048 colour over GigE at 19.1 fps, using rolling rather than global shutter.

Selection and applications

Colour sorting on moving lines. Global-shutter part orientation checks. Moderate-speed mechanism observation.

Minimum kit: The minimum setup is MV-CU020-90GC, a suitable C-mount lens, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, and either optional PoE or a 9 V DC to 24 V DC supply.

Nearby in the range: MV-CU013-80UM — Prefer it for 240.4 fps monochrome global-shutter capture over USB3.0.; MV-CS004-10GM — Prefer it for 125.2 fps over GigE when 720 × 540 is sufficient.; MV-CU060-10GC — Prefer it for 3072 × 2048 colour detail when 19.1 fps and rolling shutter fit the scene..

FAQ

Why does MV-CU020-90GC suit moving colour targets?

The GMAX4002 is a global-shutter CMOS sensor, so the 2048 × 1200 frame is exposed simultaneously. At up to 49 fps, the camera can inspect colour and geometry on moving objects without the row-timing skew associated with rolling shutter.

Which Ethernet rates can this global-shutter model use?

The camera supports Gigabit Ethernet at 1000 Mbit/s and is compatible with Fast Ethernet at 100 Mbit/s. Full-resolution planning should be based on the 2048 × 1200 stream at up to 49 fps and the capacity of the selected network path.

Can optional PoE simplify the MV-CU020-90GC installation?

PoE is optional, allowing power to share the Ethernet route when the selected camera configuration and network equipment support it. The camera also accepts 9 V DC to 24 V DC through its power connection for separately powered machinery.

How should C-mount optics be chosen for 2048 × 1200?

The camera uses a C-mount. Select a lens with sufficient image-circle coverage and resolving power for the 2048 × 1200 GMAX4002 sensor, then determine focal length from the required field of view and working distance at the motion-inspection point.

What environmental protection is specified for this GigE body?

MV-CU020-90GC is rated IP30 and operates from 0 °C to 50 °C at 20% to 95% RH. It should be mounted where condensation is avoided and where the lens and wiring area are protected from dust or liquid beyond the enclosure rating.
