Medium-width profile inspection

A 62.9 mm reference field and 15.2 mm Z range place MV-DP2080 between narrow fine-detail profilers and the deeper-range models. Its 80.2 mm working distance leaves room around the target, while 3200 points span each profile. Z resolution is 3.77 to 4.54 µm, repeatability is 1.03 µm, and the high-frame-rate range is 3.3 to 23.9 kHz.

The 60 to 65.8 mm field can cover width, edge position and surface-height changes across a medium-size part in one profile. Profile density along motion can be set through the available scan-rate range, and Gigabit Ethernet carries the resulting stream. A 12-pin M12 connection combines 24 VDC power with isolated and differential I/O for timing and machine-state exchange.

MV-DP2080 is wider and deeper than MV-DP2061, which provides a 46.6 mm reference field and 10.4 mm Z range at 60.2 mm. MV-DP2140 widens the reference field to 97.5 mm and moves the working distance to 141 mm, although its Z range is 26 mm. MV-DP2080 fits the intermediate case where 62.9 mm of width, 15.2 mm of relief and 1.03 µm repeatability align.

Overview

A DP2000 series laser profiler — the base class: the sensor projects a laser line across the part and measures height at every point of the section, up to 3200 points per profile.

Working distance 80.2 mm, measurement range 15.2 mm.

Used where a profile is needed rather than a picture: weld bead control, adhesive bead height, gap and flush, warpage, parcel volume. Data goes to VM3D or 3DMVS, and to third-party software over a standard protocol.

Selection and applications

Width and contour inspection across a 62.9 mm reference field. Surface-height measurement through a 15.2 mm Z range. 3200-point line profiling up to 23.9 kHz.

Minimum kit: MV-DP2080, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable, a 24 VDC supply, and a 3DMVS, VM3D or third-party software host form the minimum acquisition kit.

Nearby in the range: MV-DP2061 — Prefer it for a 46.6 mm reference field, 10.4 mm Z range and 0.74 µm repeatability.; MV-DP2140 — Prefer it when the reference field must expand to 97.5 mm at a 141 mm working distance..

FAQ

What measurement width is available through the MV-DP2080 Z range?

The X field is 60 mm near, 62.9 mm at the 80.2 mm reference distance and 65.8 mm far. The complete height range is 15.2 mm, so the fixture should keep the target width and its vertical excursion within that changing envelope.

What vertical and transverse sampling does MV-DP2080 provide?

The 3200-point profile gives an X resolution of 19.0 to 20.8 µm across the field. Z resolution varies from 3.77 to 4.54 µm, and the stated gauge-block repeatability on an optical platform is 1.03 µm.

Which profile-rate range can be used for MV-DP2080 line scanning?

High-frame-rate operation spans 3.3 to 23.9 kHz. The rate determines how closely successive profiles can be placed along the motion direction, while every profile retains 3200 points across the sensor's X measurement field.

How are Ethernet, power and timing I/O connected on MV-DP2080?

Data is carried by 1000 Mbit/s Gigabit Ethernet, with 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet compatibility. The separate 12-pin M12 interface carries 24 VDC and provides two opto-isolated inputs, two differential inputs and one differential output.

What environmental envelope should an MV-DP2080 installation observe?

The sensor has IP67 ingress protection and operates from 0 to 45 °C. It can be stored from -30 to 80 °C and used at 20 to 85% RH without condensation. Its 150 × 93 × 50.6 mm housing weighs approximately 850 g.

Which software paths can process profiles acquired by MV-DP2080?

3DMVS, VM3D and third-party software are listed for processing. Acquisition arrives through the Gigabit Ethernet link, so host throughput can be planned around the selected value within the 3.3 to 23.9 kHz high-frame-rate range.
