Variant-dependent profiling over 80 mm

An 80 mm Z envelope gives MV-DP2120 room to measure pronounced height change at a 117 mm working distance. The base entry uses 2048 points and spans an X field from 57 mm near to 91.4 mm far, with 1.48 µm repeatability and 3.83 to 7.74 µm Z resolution. Full-range scanning is 660 Hz, with a maximum of 10 kHz in the faster window.

The sensor fits profile, depth and brightness measurements on formed parts whose relief exceeds the shallow ranges. Software or differential-encoder hardware triggering can tie acquisition to motion, while Gigabit Ethernet transfers original images and processed 3D outputs. The IP67 enclosure, 24 VDC supply and 12-pin M12 power/I/O connection define the line-side installation.

MV-DP2120 covers substantially more depth than MV-DP2140, which has a 26 mm Z range but a wider 97.5 mm reference field and 23.9 kHz high-rate ceiling. MV-DP2240 extends depth to 200 mm at a 245 mm reference distance. Select MV-DP2120 for an 80 mm height envelope around 117 to 120 mm standoff; select MV-DP2140 for width and rate, or MV-DP2240 for deeper parts.

Overview

A DP2000 series laser profiler — the base class: the sensor projects a laser line across the part and measures height at every point of the section, up to 3200 points per profile.

Used where a profile is needed rather than a picture: weld bead control, adhesive bead height, gap and flush, warpage, parcel volume. Data goes to VM3D or 3DMVS, and to third-party software over a standard protocol.

Selection and applications

Deep height and contour measurement through an 80 mm Z range. Encoder-synchronized profile acquisition over Gigabit Ethernet. Profile, depth and brightness output for formed-part inspection.

Minimum kit: MV-DP2120, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable matched to the execution, a 24 VDC supply, and a 3DMVS, VM3D or third-party 3D software host form the minimum acquisition kit.

Nearby in the range: MV-DP2140 — Prefer it for a 97.5 mm reference field and rates up to 23.9 kHz with a 26 mm Z range.; MV-DP2240 — Prefer it when the Z range must extend to 200 mm at a 245 mm reference distance..

FAQ

What measurement volume is associated with the MV-DP2120 base entry?

The stated Z range is 80 mm at a 117 mm working distance. The X field changes from 57 mm near through 74.2 mm at reference to 91.4 mm far. Other entries list a 120 mm reference and an X span of 58 to 95 mm for an available 01P model.

How do the MV-DP2120 profile counts and rates vary by execution?

The 01P entry lists 2048 points, 660 Hz over the maximum range and 10 kHz in ROI mode. A 03P entry lists 3200 points and a 1.7 to 23.9 kHz rate. Execution selection therefore affects both transverse sampling and available acquisition speed.

Which outputs and trigger methods are available from MV-DP2120?

Listed outputs include original images, profile data, depth images and brightness images. Acquisition can use a software trigger or a hardware trigger from a differential encoder, allowing the profile stream to be synchronized to controlled motion.

What network and machine connections are used by MV-DP2120?

The network link is 1000 Mbit/s Gigabit Ethernet with 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet compatibility. A 12-pin M12 connection carries 24 VDC power and I/O; the channel allocation differs among entries, including differential and opto-isolated input arrangements.

What operating limits should be used for an MV-DP2120 installation?

The housing is rated IP67 and works from 0 to 45 °C. Storage is -30 to 80 °C, with 20 to 85% RH where condensation is absent. Listed typical power consumption is 21 W for 01D, 13.8 W for 01P and 15.2 W for 03P.

Which software environments and host systems are named for MV-DP2120?

3DMVS, VM3D and third-party 3D software are named. The operating-system entry lists 32- or 64-bit Windows 7 and 10, plus 64-bit Windows 11, with 8 GB memory and an i5 CPU recommended for the cited host configuration.
