Large-relief measurement and execution choice

A 200 mm Z range at a 245 mm reference distance makes MV-DP2240 a large-envelope profile sensor. Its X field expands from 101 mm near through 150 mm at reference to 200 mm far, and the base profile has 2048 points. The stated full-range rate is 700 Hz with a 10 kHz ROI maximum, while alternate entries identify a 23.9 kHz scan rate for another execution.

The measurement volume supports height, shape and edge inspection on parts whose depth cannot fit the smaller DP ranges. Software or differential-encoder hardware triggering can align profiles with motion. Profile, depth and brightness outputs travel over Gigabit Ethernet, and the 12-pin M12 connection combines the 24 VDC supply with differential inputs, output and RS-232 on the 01P execution.

MV-DP2240 extends well beyond MV-DP2120's 80 mm Z range and 74.2 mm reference field, but MV-DP2120 lists 1.48 µm repeatability against the 2.8 µm base value here. MV-DP3300 offers a similar 210 mm Z range, a wider 183 mm reference field and rates to 46.7 kHz. Select MV-DP2240 for the 245 mm standoff and 200 mm envelope; select MV-DP3300 when rate and field width lead.

Overview

A DP2000 series laser profiler — the base class: the sensor projects a laser line across the part and measures height at every point of the section, up to 3200 points per profile.

Working distance 245 mm, measurement range 200 mm.

Used where a profile is needed rather than a picture: weld bead control, adhesive bead height, gap and flush, warpage, parcel volume. Data goes to VM3D or 3DMVS, and to third-party software over a standard protocol.

Selection and applications

Large-part height measurement through a 200 mm Z range. Contour capture across a 150 mm reference field. Encoder-triggered profile, depth and brightness acquisition.

Minimum kit: MV-DP2240, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable matched to the execution, a 24 VDC supply, and a 3DMVS, VM3D or third-party software host form the minimum acquisition kit.

Nearby in the range: MV-DP2120 — Prefer it for an 80 mm Z range and 1.48 µm repeatability at a shorter working distance.; MV-DP3300 — Prefer it for a 210 mm Z range, 183 mm reference field and rates up to 46.7 kHz..

FAQ

What measurement volume does MV-DP2240 cover around its reference plane?

The Z range is 200 mm around a 245 mm reference distance. Its X field spans 101 mm near, 150 mm at reference and 200 mm far, providing a strongly expanding lateral envelope that must be considered when placing the part and fixtures.

How do the stated MV-DP2240 scan-rate entries relate to its executions?

The base speed entry lists 700 Hz over the maximum measurement range and 10 kHz as the ROI maximum. A separate scan-frame-rate entry lists 23.9 kHz. The available documents cover 01P and 03P executions, so rate selection must follow the chosen execution.

Which 3D outputs and triggers are available from MV-DP2240?

The sensor outputs profile data, depth images and brightness images. It supports software triggering and hardware triggering from a differential encoder, enabling profile positions to be coordinated with motion before the results are sent over Ethernet.

What power and I/O arrangement is listed for MV-DP2240-01P?

The 01P execution uses a 12-pin M12 power and I/O interface with three differential inputs, one differential output and one RS-232 channel. Supply is 24 VDC; listed consumption is 15 W for 01P and 13.8 W for 03P.

What enclosure and ambient limits apply to both MV-DP2240 variants?

Both listed executions use a 185.5 × 125.5 × 59 mm IP67 housing and weigh approximately 1450 g. The operating interval is 0 to 45 °C, storage is -30 to 80 °C, and humidity is 20 to 85% RH without condensation.

What software choices can handle measurements from MV-DP2240?

3DMVS, VM3D and third-party software are named. Profile data, depth images and brightness images use the 1000 Mbit/s Gigabit Ethernet connection, which is compatible with 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet when the output load permits.
