Broad-volume scanning at 565 mm standoff

A 670 mm Z range and 565 mm reference distance give MV-DP2470 a broad measurement volume for large height changes. The X field expands from 142 mm near to 488 mm far, measuring 315 mm at reference. Each profile contains 3200 points; Z resolution spans 10.39 to 169.79 µm, repeatability is 4.45 µm, and high-frame-rate operation reaches 1.7 to 23.9 kHz.

Large contours, overall height and edge positions can be followed while the sensor remains more than half a metre from the reference plane. Profile, depth and brightness outputs move over Gigabit Ethernet. Software or differential-encoder hardware triggering is listed, and a 12-pin M12 interface provides 24 VDC power with isolated and differential timing channels.

MV-DP2470 covers more depth than MV-DP3580's 580 mm range, but MV-DP3580 reaches 46.7 kHz and has a 328 mm reference field. MV-DP2900 expands the height range to 910 mm and moves the working distance to 925 mm, with 6.59 µm repeatability. Select MV-DP2470 for the 670 mm envelope at 565 mm standoff; move to MV-DP3580 for rate or MV-DP2900 for distance and depth.

Overview

A DP2000 series laser profiler — the base class: the sensor projects a laser line across the part and measures height at every point of the section, up to 3200 points per profile.

Working distance 565 mm, measurement range 670 mm.

Used where a profile is needed rather than a picture: weld bead control, adhesive bead height, gap and flush, warpage, parcel volume. Data goes to VM3D or 3DMVS, and to third-party software over a standard protocol.

Selection and applications

Large-volume height measurement through a 670 mm Z range. Broad contour capture across a 315 mm reference field. Encoder-triggered 3200-point profiling up to 23.9 kHz.

Minimum kit: MV-DP2470, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable, a 24 VDC supply, and a 3DMVS, VM3D or third-party software host form the minimum acquisition kit.

Nearby in the range: MV-DP3580 — Prefer it for rates up to 46.7 kHz across a 328 mm reference field and 580 mm Z range.; MV-DP2900 — Prefer it when the Z range must reach 910 mm at a 925 mm working distance..

FAQ

How does the MV-DP2470 field expand through its 670 mm Z range?

The X measurement width is 142 mm at the near side, 315 mm at the 565 mm reference distance and 488 mm at the far side. This expansion is substantial, so both the target outline and nearby fixtures must be checked throughout the complete height envelope.

What detail is retained across the large MV-DP2470 measurement volume?

Each profile has 3200 points. X resolution changes from 43.9 to 177.4 µm across the field, while Z resolution runs from 10.39 to 169.79 µm. Stated Z repeatability is 4.45 µm under the gauge-block test condition.

Which acquisition-rate entries are available for MV-DP2470?

High-frame-rate operation is listed from 1.7 to 23.9 kHz. Other entries identify 660 Hz scanning and a 10 kHz ROI maximum. The selected execution and active height window therefore determine which stated rate applies.

How can MV-DP2470 synchronize profiles with machine motion?

The trigger choices are software trigger and hardware trigger from a differential encoder. The 12-pin M12 interface provides two isolated inputs, two differential inputs and one differential output, while profile traffic uses Gigabit Ethernet.

What supply and ambient conditions are specified for MV-DP2470?

The sensor uses 24 VDC with typical consumption of 15.2 W. Its IP67 housing operates from 0 to 45 °C and stores from -30 to 80 °C. Humidity is limited to 20 to 85% RH without condensation.

Which software can process the output types produced by MV-DP2470?

3DMVS, VM3D and third-party software are listed. Available outputs include profile data, depth images and brightness images, sent through 1000 Mbit/s Gigabit Ethernet with 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet compatibility.
