Fast profiling for deeper formed surfaces

An 80 to 86 mm Z envelope gives MV-DP3120 the depth needed for pronounced formed surfaces, while its execution choice sets the scan rate. The 01D version covers 80 mm at 125 mm and reaches 19 kHz; 01P covers 86 mm at 126 mm and runs to 46.7 kHz. Both use 3200 points, with stated repeatability of 1.55 and 1.68 µm respectively.

The expanding X fields cover 61 to 94.2 mm for 01D and 65 to 105 mm for 01P, supporting height, contour and edge checks across a broad moving target. Gigabit Ethernet transfers the measurements, while 12-pin M12 power/I/O arrangements support differential timing and, on 01P, isolated input channels. The IP67 housing operates from 0 to 45 °C.

MV-DP3120 increases the rate over MV-DP2120, whose base 80 mm execution runs at 660 Hz full-range and 10 kHz maximum. MV-DP3300 keeps the 46.7 kHz ceiling but extends the Z range to 210 mm and reference field to 183 mm, with 2.20 µm repeatability. Choose MV-DP3120 for 80 to 86 mm depth and finer repeatability; choose MV-DP3300 for a much larger envelope.

Overview

A DP3000 series laser profiler — the mid class: the same 3200 points per profile at twice the scan rate, up to 46.7 kHz.

Working distance 126 mm, measurement range 86 mm.

Used where a profile is needed rather than a picture: weld bead control, adhesive bead height, gap and flush, warpage, parcel volume. Data goes to VM3D or 3DMVS, and to third-party software over a standard protocol.

Selection and applications

Deep contour measurement through an 80 or 86 mm Z range. Broad 3200-point profile capture across formed surfaces. High-rate line scanning up to 19 or 46.7 kHz.

Minimum kit: MV-DP3120, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable matched to the execution, a 24 VDC supply, and a 3DMVS, VM3D or third-party software host form the minimum acquisition kit.

Nearby in the range: MV-DP2120 — Prefer it when an 80 mm Z range with a 10 kHz maximum rate meets the application.; MV-DP3300 — Prefer it for a 210 mm Z range and 183 mm reference field at rates up to 46.7 kHz..

FAQ

How do MV-DP3120-01D and 01P differ in range and field?

The 01D execution covers 80 mm along Z at a 125 mm distance, with an X field from 61 to 94.2 mm. The 01P execution covers 86 mm at 126 mm, and its X field expands from 65 to 105 mm.

Which MV-DP3120 execution should be chosen for higher scan speed?

The 01D rate is 1.3 kHz over the maximum range and up to 19 kHz in the faster window. The 01P high-frame-rate range is 3.4 to 46.7 kHz. Both executions retain 3200 points in each profile.

What vertical performance is stated for the two MV-DP3120 executions?

The 01D entry gives 1.55 µm repeatability and 4.23 to 7.47 µm Z resolution. The 01P entry gives 1.68 µm repeatability and 4.38 to 8.33 µm Z resolution, paired with its deeper 86 mm range.

How do the MV-DP3120 housings and power figures compare?

MV-DP3120-01D measures 258 × 96.5 × 66 mm, weighs about 1532 g and typically uses 21 W. The 01P housing is 144.5 × 96 × 58 mm, about 950 g and typically 17.2 W. Both use 24 VDC.

What network and I/O connections support MV-DP3120 integration?

Both executions use 1000 Mbit/s Gigabit Ethernet with 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet compatibility. The 12-pin M12 connection carries power and I/O; 01D lists three differential inputs, while 01P lists isolated and differential inputs.

Which software choices are stated for acquiring MV-DP3120 profiles?

The listed environments are 3DMVS, VM3D and third-party software. They receive the 3200-point profile stream over Gigabit Ethernet, with the active data rate determined by the selected 01D or 01P execution.
