Dense wide-field profiling at 49 kHz

A 100 mm Z range and 100 mm reference field give MV-DP4180 a balanced large-feature measurement volume at a 175 mm working distance. The X field expands from 75 to 125 mm across the range. Profiles contain 4080 points, Z resolution is 3.72 to 8.40 µm, repeatability is 1.50 µm, and ROI operation raises the scan rate from 2.5 to 49 kHz.

The equal reference width and height range suit shape, height and edge checks across formed moving parts. Software or differential-encoder hardware triggering can align the 4080-point profiles to motion. Gigabit Ethernet carries the measurements, while the 12-pin M12 interface supplies 24 VDC and provides three differential inputs, one differential output and RS-232.

MV-DP4180 extends beyond MV-DP4090-01P's 42 mm Z range and 51.5 mm field while sharing the 49 kHz ROI ceiling; MV-DP4090-01P has 0.66 µm repeatability. MV-DP4430-03P expands to a 340 mm Z range and 241 mm reference field with 2.27 µm repeatability at the same stated rate limits. Choose MV-DP4180 for the intermediate 100 mm by 100 mm reference geometry.

Overview

A DP4000 series laser profiler — the top class: 4080 points per profile and up to 49 kHz, for large parts and wide belts.

Working distance 175 mm, measurement range 100 mm.

Used where a profile is needed rather than a picture: weld bead control, adhesive bead height, gap and flush, warpage, parcel volume. Data goes to VM3D or 3DMVS, and to third-party software over a standard protocol.

Selection and applications

Formed-part profiling through a 100 mm Z range. Dense contour capture across a 100 mm reference field. Encoder-triggered ROI scanning at up to 49 kHz.

Minimum kit: MV-DP4180, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable, a 24 VDC supply, and a host running 3DMVS V3.1.0 or above, VM3D or third-party software form the minimum acquisition kit.

Nearby in the range: MV-DP4090-01P — Prefer it for a 42 mm Z range, 51.5 mm reference field and 0.66 µm repeatability.; MV-DP4430-03P — Prefer it when the Z range must expand to 340 mm and the reference field to 241 mm..

FAQ

What measurement volume does MV-DP4180 provide at 175 mm?

The Z range is 100 mm around a 175 mm working distance. The X field is 75 mm near, 100 mm at reference and 125 mm far, so the available width grows through the complete height envelope.

What detail is captured in each 4080-point MV-DP4180 profile?

X resolution ranges from 18.5 to 32.2 µm, and Z resolution ranges from 3.72 to 8.40 µm across the volume. The sensor states 1.50 µm repeatability from gauge-block testing on an optical platform.

When can MV-DP4180 use its 49 kHz maximum profile rate?

The scan rate is 2.5 kHz over the maximum measurement range and up to 49 kHz in ROI mode. The higher rate therefore applies when the active region can be restricted for the required moving-line measurement.

How are triggering and I/O handled on the MV-DP4180?

The trigger choices are software trigger and differential-encoder hardware trigger. A 12-pin M12 interface provides three differential inputs, one differential output and one RS-232 channel while also carrying the 24 VDC supply.

Which software version and Ethernet interface are stated for MV-DP4180?

The named choices are 3DMVS V3.1.0 and above, VM3D, and third-party software. Data transfer uses 1000 Mbit/s Gigabit Ethernet, with compatibility for 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet.

What installation environment and power load apply to MV-DP4180?

The IP67 sensor works from 0 to 45 °C, stores from -30 to 80 °C and accepts 20 to 85% RH without condensation. Typical consumption is 20.6 W at 24 VDC, and the housing measures 183.5 × 110.5 × 67 mm.
