High-density profiling over a 900 mm range
A 900 mm Z range, 940 mm working distance and 515 mm reference field place MV-DP4940 among the broadest profilers in the lineup. Its X field grows from 280 mm near to 750 mm far. Each profile contains 4080 points, with 14.8 to 98.7 µm Z resolution and 9.45 µm repeatability. ROI operation raises the scan rate from 2.5 to 49 kHz.
The long standoff and dense transverse profile support overall height, deformation, shape and edge capture on very large moving targets. Gigabit Ethernet carries measurements to 3DMVS V3.1.0 or above, VM3D or third-party software. Differential-encoder hardware triggering can tie profiles to motion, while a 12-pin M12 interface provides 24 VDC power and machine I/O.
MV-DP4940 increases profile count over MV-DP3900 from 3200 to 4080 and raises the maximum rate from 46.7 to 49 kHz, while both cover roughly 900 mm along Z; MV-DP3900 states 8.12 µm repeatability. MV-DP4430-03P retains 4080 points and the 49 kHz ROI maximum but reduces the Z range to 340 mm and repeatability to 2.27 µm. Choose by volume and detail.
Overview
A DP4000 series laser profiler — the top class: 4080 points per profile and up to 49 kHz, for large parts and wide belts.
Working distance 940 mm, measurement range 900 mm.
Used where a profile is needed rather than a picture: weld bead control, adhesive bead height, gap and flush, warpage, parcel volume. Data goes to VM3D or 3DMVS, and to third-party software over a standard protocol.

Selection and applications
Very large height measurement through a 900 mm Z range. Dense 4080-point contour capture across a 515 mm reference field. Encoder-triggered ROI profiling at up to 49 kHz.
Minimum kit: MV-DP4940, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable, a 24 VDC supply, and a host running 3DMVS V3.1.0 or above, VM3D or third-party software form the minimum acquisition kit.
Nearby in the range: MV-DP3900 — Prefer it for 3200-point profiles and 8.12 µm repeatability over a comparable 905 mm Z range.; MV-DP4430-03P — Prefer it for a 340 mm Z range and 2.27 µm repeatability with the same 4080-point count..

FAQ
How broad is the MV-DP4940 measurement field through its Z range?
The profiler covers 900 mm along Z at a 940 mm working distance. Its X field expands from 280 mm near through 515 mm at reference to 750 mm far, so mounting clearance should follow the entire measurement volume.
What sampling detail does the MV-DP4940 provide on large targets?
Each profile contains 4080 points. X resolution is listed from 66 to 172 µm, while Z resolution runs from 14.8 to 98.7 µm. The stated repeatability is 9.45 µm under the gauge-block test condition.
How does ROI operation change the MV-DP4940 scan rate?
The listed rate is 2.5 kHz across the maximum measurement range and up to 49 kHz in ROI mode. Restricting the active region therefore enables higher-rate acquisition while the profile format provides 4080 transverse points.
Which trigger and I/O functions support MV-DP4940 line synchronization?
Acquisition supports software trigger and differential-encoder hardware trigger. The 12-pin M12 connection carries three differential inputs, one differential output, one RS-232 channel and the 24 VDC supply.
Which software and network interface are listed for MV-DP4940?
The software routes are 3DMVS V3.1.0 and above, VM3D and third-party software. Measurements use 1000 Mbit/s Gigabit Ethernet, with compatibility for 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet when the lower link rate fits the profile stream.
What mechanical, power and ambient limits apply to MV-DP4940?
The IP67 housing is 302.5 × 112.5 × 56 mm and weighs approximately 1632 g. Typical consumption is 20 W at 24 VDC. Operation is 0 to 45 °C, storage is -30 to 80 °C, and humidity is 20 to 85% RH without condensation.
