Close-range measurement profile

Close-range geometry is the defining feature of MV-RS-Base-S: its working distance and measurement range are both 400 mm. The unit combines 3200 × 1944 RGB output with a 1632 × 1080 depth map and a 0.4 s to 0.9 s capture interval. At 600 mm it reaches 0.05 mm accuracy and 0.03 mm repeatability, using a 450 nm Class 2 laser.

A view of 280 mm × 220 mm at 400 mm is suited to localized 3D pose checks, small-container geometry and close robot guidance. Moving the scene to 600 mm expands the view to 480 mm × 320 mm while retaining the stated accuracy reference at that distance. The 12-pin M12 interface offers three isolated trigger inputs and three isolated outputs for cycle coordination.

MV-RS-Base-S is the short-standoff Base model. MV-RS-Base-M keeps a 400 mm range but starts at 800 mm and uses a 1632 × 1264 depth format for a wider view. MV-RS-Ultra-S starts at 500 mm, narrows the measurement range to 300 mm and raises depth sampling to 2448 × 2048. Select MV-RS-Base-S for the 400 mm start point; select MV-RS-Ultra-S when denser depth sampling takes priority.

Overview

A galvanometer 3D camera: a scanner sweeps the laser beam across the scene, two cameras capture the result, and the device builds a point cloud of the whole part in one shot, with no conveyor motion. Acquisition takes 0.4 to 0.9 seconds.

The main use is robot guidance: bin picking, palletising, depalletising. It works together with RobotPilot and VM3D.

Selection and applications

Close-range 3D pose capture from 400 mm. RGB-D inspection across a 280 mm × 220 mm view. Repeatable geometry measurement at 0.03 mm at 600 mm.

Minimum kit: Use the MV-RS-Base-S unit with a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable, and a 24 V DC supply capable of its typical 15 W load.

Nearby in the range: MV-RS-Ultra-S — Prefer it when the close-range task needs 2448 × 2048 depth sampling.; MV-RS-Base-M — Prefer it when the scene begins at an 800 mm working distance..

FAQ

What close-range view does MV-RS-Base-S provide for a cell?

The view is 280 mm × 220 mm at 400 mm, 480 mm × 320 mm at 600 mm, and 620 mm × 440 mm at 800 mm. Its 400 mm measurement range must be aligned with the nearest and farthest surfaces in the scene.

What measurement performance is stated for MV-RS-Base-S?

Accuracy is 0.05 mm and repeatability is 0.03 mm at 600 mm. Depth resolution is 1632 × 1080, accompanied by a 3200 × 1944 RGB image, so selection should consider both the geometric tolerance and sampling across the chosen view.

How fast is a complete RGB-D capture on MV-RS-Base-S?

The capture time ranges from 0.4 s to 0.9 s. Transfers use Gigabit Ethernet at 1000 Mbit/s, and RobotPilot and HiViewer are the listed software tools for working with the unit's RGB and depth data.

What electrical connections does MV-RS-Base-S need?

Supply the unit with 24 V DC; typical consumption is 15 W. A 12-pin M12 interface handles power and I/O with three opto-isolated inputs and three opto-isolated outputs, while a separate Gigabit Ethernet connection carries image data.

Which housing and temperature limits apply to MV-RS-Base-S?

MV-RS-Base-S is rated IP65 and operates from 0 °C to 45 °C. Storage is permitted from –30 °C to 80 °C, and operating humidity is 20% RH to 85% RH without condensation. The body weighs about 1.3 kg.
