Short-standoff high-density capture
High-density depth sampling at short standoff is the role of MV-RS-Ultra-S. It begins at a 500 mm working distance, covers a 300 mm measurement range and outputs 2448 × 2048 depth with 4000 × 3000 RGB. A 450 nm Class 2 laser produces the scan in 0.4 s to 0.9 s, with 0.05 mm accuracy and 0.03 mm repeatability at 600 mm.
The 240 mm × 260 mm view at 500 mm concentrates the available points over a compact area for close pose determination, fine surface separation and dimensional checks. At 800 mm the view expands to 480 mm × 440 mm. IP65 protection, a 0 °C to 45 °C operating band and opto-isolated I/O allow the unit to work as a synchronized station inside a machine cell.
MV-RS-Ultra-S has the shortest range in the Ultra group. MV-RS-Ultra-M extends measurement range to 700 mm from the same 2448 × 2048 depth format, while MV-RS-Ultra-L begins at 1300 mm for long standoff. Against MV-RS-Base-S, MV-RS-Ultra-S raises depth output from 1632 × 1080 to 2448 × 2048 but starts 100 mm farther away and covers 300 mm rather than 400 mm.
Overview
A galvanometer 3D camera: a scanner sweeps the laser beam across the scene, two cameras capture the result, and the device builds a point cloud of the whole part in one shot, with no conveyor motion. Acquisition takes 0.4 to 0.9 seconds.
The main use is robot guidance: bin picking, palletising, depalletising. It works together with RobotPilot and VM3D.

Selection and applications
Dense close-range depth mapping from 500 mm. Compact RGB-D capture over a 240 mm × 260 mm view. Fine 3D checks at 0.03 mm repeatability at 600 mm.
Minimum kit: Use the MV-RS-Ultra-S unit with a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable, and a 24 V DC supply rated for typical 15 W consumption.
Nearby in the range: MV-RS-Base-S — Prefer it for a 400 mm working distance and a 400 mm measurement range.; MV-RS-Ultra-M — Prefer it when the measurement range must extend to 700 mm..

FAQ
How compact is the measured scene for MV-RS-Ultra-S?
The view is 240 mm × 260 mm at 500 mm, 320 mm × 320 mm at 600 mm, and 480 mm × 440 mm at 800 mm. The measurement range is 300 mm, defining a compact depth envelope for the surfaces being acquired.
What fine-detail performance is stated for MV-RS-Ultra-S?
The depth map is 2448 × 2048 and the RGB image is 4000 × 3000. Accuracy is 0.05 mm and repeatability is 0.03 mm at 600 mm, so the rated measurement point should be reflected in the mechanical layout.
How long does MV-RS-Ultra-S need for each 3D acquisition?
The stated capture time is 0.4 s to 0.9 s. RGB and depth output are carried over Gigabit Ethernet at 1000 Mbit/s, and discrete synchronization is available through three isolated inputs and three isolated outputs.
What supply and connector arrangement serves MV-RS-Ultra-S?
The camera uses 24 V DC and typically draws 15 W. Power and I/O are provided through a 12-pin M12 interface; a Gigabit Ethernet connection is also required for transferring the 4000 × 3000 RGB and 2448 × 2048 depth data.
What are the environmental ratings of MV-RS-Ultra-S?
The enclosure is IP65 and the working temperature range is 0 °C to 45 °C. Permitted working humidity is 20% RH to 85% RH without condensation, while the storage range extends from –30 °C to 80 °C.
