Wide-volume 3D acquisition

A 2000 mm measurement range from a 1500 mm working distance makes MV-RS-Pro-XL the wide-volume Pro configuration. It delivers RGB at 3968 × 3000 and depth at 1920 × 1536, with captures taking 0.4 s to 0.9 s. Accuracy is 0.3 mm and repeatability is 0.2 mm at 2500 mm, supported by a 638 nm Class 2 laser.

At 2500 mm the camera covers 2200 mm × 2000 mm, a geometry suited to mapping large stacks, broad containers and extended robot workspaces. The view reaches 3200 mm × 2800 mm at 3500 mm when scene coverage outweighs sampling density. Gigabit Ethernet moves RGB-D data, while six opto-isolated I/O lines provide acquisition timing and status exchange.

MV-RS-Pro-XL and MV-RS-Ultra-XL share a 1500 mm working distance, 2000 mm range, and the same accuracy and repeatability at 2500 mm. MV-RS-Ultra-XL increases depth resolution to 2448 × 2048, while MV-RS-Pro-XL offers a larger 3200 mm × 2800 mm view at 3500 mm. MV-RS-Base-L is the smaller-range alternative at 1000 mm with 0.15 mm accuracy at 1800 mm.

Overview

A galvanometer 3D camera: a scanner sweeps the laser beam across the scene, two cameras capture the result, and the device builds a point cloud of the whole part in one shot, with no conveyor motion. Acquisition takes 0.4 to 0.9 seconds.

The main use is robot guidance: bin picking, palletising, depalletising. It works together with RobotPilot and VM3D.

Selection and applications

Wide-volume 3D capture across a 2000 mm range. Large-workspace mapping over 2200 mm × 2000 mm at 2500 mm. RGB-D localization at a 1500 mm working distance.

Minimum kit: Use the MV-RS-Pro-XL unit with a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable, and a 24 V DC supply sized for typical 16 W consumption.

Nearby in the range: MV-RS-Ultra-XL — Prefer it when the same 2000 mm range needs 2448 × 2048 depth output.; MV-RS-Base-L — Prefer it for a 1000 mm range and 0.15 mm accuracy at 1800 mm..

FAQ

How large a volume can the MV-RS-Pro-XL configuration observe?

The measurement range is 2000 mm from a 1500 mm working distance. Its view is 1360 mm × 1200 mm at 1500 mm, 2200 mm × 2000 mm at 2500 mm, and 3200 mm × 2800 mm at 3500 mm.

What are the depth resolution and accuracy of MV-RS-Pro-XL?

The depth map contains 1920 × 1536 points and the RGB image is 3968 × 3000. At 2500 mm, accuracy is 0.3 mm and repeatability is 0.2 mm; those distance-qualified values should govern tolerance planning.

What cycle time and data link does MV-RS-Pro-XL use?

Each capture takes 0.4 s to 0.9 s, and the camera sends data through Gigabit Ethernet at 1000 Mbit/s. Timing can be coordinated through the 12-pin M12 interface, which includes three isolated inputs and three isolated outputs.

What supply should be allocated to an MV-RS-Pro-XL station?

The required supply is 24 V DC and typical power consumption is 16 W. Power and I/O use the 12-pin M12 interface, so the electrical design needs that connection as well as the Gigabit Ethernet data cable.

What installation envelope and environment suit MV-RS-Pro-XL?

The housing is 510.1 mm × 79.8 mm × 98.5 mm and weighs about 1.68 kg. It is rated IP65, operates from 0 °C to 45 °C, and permits 20% RH to 85% RH without condensation. Storage spans –30 °C to 80 °C.
