Large-scene detail and range

A 2000 mm measurement range and 2448 × 2048 depth output place MV-RS-Ultra-XL at the large-scene end of the Ultra family. It starts at a 1500 mm working distance and pairs the depth map with 4000 × 3000 RGB. Captures take 0.4 s to 0.9 s; accuracy is 0.3 mm and repeatability is 0.2 mm at 2500 mm.

The view reaches 2200 mm × 2000 mm at 2500 mm and 2800 mm × 2600 mm at 3500 mm. This coverage supports whole-stack localization, large-container profiling and 3D measurement where a broad scene and dense depth representation are both required. A 638 nm Class 2 laser performs the scan, and the IP65 enclosure protects the fixed installation.

MV-RS-Pro-XL shares the same working distance, measurement range and 0.3 mm accuracy, but records 1920 × 1536 depth and reaches a wider 3200 mm × 2800 mm view at 3500 mm. MV-RS-Ultra-L retains 2448 × 2048 depth while reducing the range to 800 mm and accuracy to 0.15 mm at 1800 mm. MV-RS-Ultra-XL is the choice for maximum depth span with Ultra sampling density.

Overview

A galvanometer 3D camera: a scanner sweeps the laser beam across the scene, two cameras capture the result, and the device builds a point cloud of the whole part in one shot, with no conveyor motion. Acquisition takes 0.4 to 0.9 seconds.

The main use is robot guidance: bin picking, palletising, depalletising. It works together with RobotPilot and VM3D.

Selection and applications

Dense 3D mapping across a 2000 mm measurement range. Whole-scene RGB-D capture over 2200 mm × 2000 mm at 2500 mm. Large-volume localization with 2448 × 2048 depth output.

Minimum kit: Use the MV-RS-Ultra-XL unit with a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable, and a 24 V DC source sized for its typical 15 W consumption.

Nearby in the range: MV-RS-Pro-XL — Prefer it for a 3200 mm × 2800 mm view at 3500 mm.; MV-RS-Ultra-L — Prefer it for an 800 mm range and 0.15 mm accuracy at 1800 mm..

FAQ

What large-scene views are specified for MV-RS-Ultra-XL?

The camera covers 1300 mm × 1100 mm at 1500 mm, 2200 mm × 2000 mm at 2500 mm, and 2800 mm × 2600 mm at 3500 mm. Its 2000 mm measurement range accommodates substantial depth variation across that view.

How dense and accurate is the MV-RS-Ultra-XL depth output?

Depth resolution is 2448 × 2048, and RGB resolution is 4000 × 3000. The stated accuracy is 0.3 mm with 0.2 mm repeatability at 2500 mm, linking the measurement figures to the central rated distance.

How is MV-RS-Ultra-XL synchronized with a handling cycle?

A capture requires 0.4 s to 0.9 s. The 12-pin M12 interface supplies three opto-isolated inputs and three opto-isolated outputs for control exchange, while Gigabit Ethernet carries the RGB-D result.

What power and network capacity does MV-RS-Ultra-XL need?

The camera uses a 24 V DC supply and typically consumes 15 W. Data transfers over Gigabit Ethernet at 1000 Mbit/s; the power and I/O connection is a 12-pin M12 interface with six isolated signal lines.

Which mounting load and ambient limits apply to MV-RS-Ultra-XL?

The unit is 525.7 mm × 81.8 mm × 107.4 mm and weighs about 2.35 kg. It is rated IP65 for operation from 0 °C to 45 °C and 20% RH to 85% RH without condensation; storage spans –30 °C to 80 °C.
