Fast colour inspection and range position

Colour inspection at fast line rates defines MV-SC5020XC. Its 1/2.53-inch CMOS sensor combines a 1600 × 1216 image, 3.45 µm pixels, global shutter and acquisition up to 100 fps. Processing runs in Vision Master Platform with the deep-learning module, with OCR, object recognition and defect detection among the stated algorithms. Gigabit Ethernet carries results from the camera rather than requiring images to be interpreted at a PLC.

The global shutter and 15 µs minimum exposure support inspection of moving parts when blur must be controlled, while the 100 fps ceiling suits short conveyor cycles. Colour output makes the unit applicable when labels, parts or defects are separated by chromatic information. PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, TCP and UDP provide several routes into line control, and three opto-isolated inputs plus three outputs allow direct trigger and result signalling.

Within the smart-camera group, MV-SC5020XM keeps 1600 × 1216 and 100 fps but records mono images; select MV-SC5020XC when colour is part of the decision. MV-SC5050XC raises the frame to 2432 × 2048 but runs at 60 fps, trading cycle rate for more spatial samples. MV-SC6016C reaches 120 fps at 1408 × 1024 in its C-mount configuration, fitting an even faster line when its lower resolution is sufficient.

Selection and applications

Colour inspection of moving parts at up to 100 fps. On-camera OCR and object recognition. Defect decisions sent to industrial control networks.

Minimum kit: Use MV-SC5020XC with a C-mount lens or the selected mechanical optical configuration, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable, and a 24 VDC supply.

Nearby in the range: MV-SC5020XM — Prefer it for mono capture at the same 1600 × 1216 and 100 fps.; MV-SC5050XC — Prefer it when 2432 × 2048 colour frames matter more than the 100 fps rate.; MV-SC6016C — Prefer it for colour acquisition up to 120 fps at 1408 × 1024 in the C-mount configuration..

FAQ

How does the shutter specification support moving-part inspection?

The CMOS sensor uses a global shutter, so the complete frame is exposed on one timing event rather than line by line. Exposure starts at 15 µs, and the camera can acquire up to 100 fps at 1600 × 1216, a combination suited to synchronised capture of parts moving through a station.

What connections carry network data, power and discrete signals?

Image and result traffic uses Gigabit Ethernet at 1000 Mbit/s. A 12-pin M12 connector supplies 24 VDC and provides three opto-isolated inputs, three opto-isolated outputs and one RS-232 channel. The network side supports PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, Modbus, TCP, UDP and other listed protocols.

How do the C-mount and mechanical configurations affect exposure?

The C-mount configuration provides an exposure range from 15 µs to 1 sec. The mechanical configuration retains the 15 µs minimum but its listed upper limit is 3000 µs. This distinction matters when a station needs long integration rather than short, strobed capture.

Which inspection functions can execute in the smart camera itself?

Vision Master Platform includes the deep-learning module, and the stated algorithm set covers OCR, object recognition and defect detection. The camera also has 64 GB of storage, allowing processing resources and retained job material to remain within the device.

What environmental limits apply to an exposed installation?

The working range is 0 °C to 50 °C with 20% RH to 95% RH and no condensation. Ingress protection is IP67 when the C-mount version has its waterproof lens cap installed correctly; the mechanical configuration is also listed as IP67.
