Mono inspection with integrated optics support

Mono acquisition at 2432 × 2048 and up to 60 fps places MV-SC5050XM between the faster low-resolution and slower high-resolution smart cameras. Its 1/1.45-inch CMOS sensor has 3.45 µm pixels, global shutter and exposure from 15 µs to 3000 µs. The listed mechanical-focus M12 mount is paired with white light as standard, with red, blue or IR light available as options.

The camera can handle edge, geometry, presence and printed-feature inspection where chromatic information is unnecessary. Global exposure limits geometric distortion on moving parts, and the built-in illumination configuration reduces the number of separate optical components around the station. Vision Master Platform includes deep-learning OCR, object recognition and defect detection; Gigabit Ethernet and industrial protocols pass the resulting decision to line control.

MV-SC5020XM reaches 100 fps at 1600 × 1216, making it the speed-led mono alternative. MV-SC5120XM increases resolution to 4096 × 2944 but stops at 30 fps and uses C-mount optics. MV-SC5050XC keeps 2432 × 2048 and 60 fps while recording colour, so it is the corresponding choice when the acceptance rule depends on hue rather than intensity or shape.

Selection and applications

Mono geometry checks at 2432 × 2048. Moving-part capture with global exposure. Embedded OCR under selectable illumination.

Minimum kit: Use MV-SC5050XM with its mechanical-focus M12 lens arrangement, the selected light source, a Gigabit Ethernet cable, a 12-pin M12 power and I/O cable, and a 24 VDC supply.

Nearby in the range: MV-SC5050XC — Prefer it when 2432 × 2048 inspection at 60 fps must retain colour.; MV-SC5020XM — Prefer it for mono acquisition up to 100 fps at 1600 × 1216.; MV-SC5120XM — Prefer it when 4096 × 2944 mono detail is required and 30 fps is adequate..

FAQ

Which lens mount and illumination arrangement does this variant use?

The lens interface is an M12 mount with mechanical focus. White illumination is standard, while red, blue or IR illumination is optional. This optical arrangement belongs with the 1/1.45-inch sensor, 3.45 µm pixels and 2432 × 2048 mono output.

How does the global shutter relate to the 60 fps limit?

The global shutter exposes the mono frame on one timing event, supporting geometrically consistent capture of moving parts. Exposure spans 15 µs to 3000 µs, and full-frame acquisition reaches 60 fps at 2432 × 2048.

What electrical connections are needed around MV-SC5050XM?

A 12-pin M12 connector carries the 24 VDC supply and I/O, including three opto-isolated inputs, three opto-isolated outputs and one RS-232 channel. A separate Gigabit Ethernet connection provides the 1000 Mbit/s network path.

Can inspection results be delivered over industrial Ethernet?

Yes. The communication list includes PROFINET, EtherNet/IP and Modbus as well as TCP, UDP, Fins, MC and FTP. OCR, object recognition and defect detection can run in Vision Master Platform with the deep-learning module before a result is transmitted.

What limits apply to power draw and environmental sealing?

With the included light source on, consumption is stated as 12.3 W typical and 48 W maximum at 24 VDC. The enclosure is listed as IP67 with the waterproof lens cap installed correctly, and operation is specified from 0 °C to 50 °C.
