IMX430 color capture over GigE

The Sony® IMX430 combines a 1624 × 1240 color frame with a 60 fps global-shutter rate in MV-CS020-10GC. Its 1/1.7-inch CMOS sensor has 4.5 µm pixels and delivers Bayer RG 8 through Gigabit Ethernet. UltraShort exposure begins at 1 µs, and the 2 MP image offers a useful step in spatial detail beyond MV-CS016-10GC at 1440 × 1080 while retaining a full-frame rate suited to continuous industrial motion.

Color marks, printed features, assembly orientation and part boundaries can be checked as objects pass through the view. The global shutter captures moving geometry together, while the 1624 × 1240 grid gives algorithms more samples across small regions than the lower-resolution CS models. PoE can consolidate network data and power, and the 6-pin P7 connection offers a 9–24 V DC input plus isolated input, isolated output and bidirectional I/O for machine timing.

MV-CS020-10UC keeps the IMX430 and Bayer RG 8 output but changes to USB 3.0 and increases the frame ceiling to 90 fps in a 30 mm-deep body. MV-CS020-60GC stays on Gigabit Ethernet at 60.3 fps, using a smaller 1/2.53-inch Stacked BSI sensor with 3.45 µm pixels. MV-CS020-61GC V5.0 uses a 1/1.7-inch Stacked BSI sensor and dual operating modes at 60.7 fps. Select this model for IMX430 color, PoE and 60 fps.

FAQ

What image format does the IMX430 color sensor deliver?

The camera outputs 1624 × 1240 Bayer RG 8 from a 1/1.7-inch Sony® IMX430 sensor. The 4.5 µm pixel pitch and 2 MP class provide the spatial sampling, while the full stated rate is 60 fps.

How does the exposure range address fast and static scenes?

UltraShort exposure covers 1 µs to 5 µs, followed by standard exposure from 6 µs to 10 sec. Combined with a global shutter, the short end can limit motion displacement; the long end serves scenes that change slowly.

What are the available power choices for MV-CS020-10GC?

The camera supports PoE over the Gigabit Ethernet connection and also accepts 9–24 V DC through its 6-pin P7 port. Typical consumption is 3.0 W at 12 V DC, a figure that can be used when sizing the external supply.

How does MV-CS020-10GC differ from the MV-CS020-10UC variant?

Both use the Sony® IMX430 and output 1624 × 1240 Bayer RG 8. MV-CS020-10GC uses Gigabit Ethernet with PoE at 60 fps and a 42 mm-deep body; MV-CS020-10UC uses USB 3.0 at 90 fps and is 30 mm deep.

What lens and environmental envelope should be used?

Choose a C-mount lens that covers the 1/1.7-inch sensor. The IP40 housing measures 29 mm × 29 mm × 42 mm, weighs approximately 100 g and is specified for operation from –30 °C to 60 °C.
