Applications, speed and optical choices

Five-megapixel colour capture at 59.2 fps makes MV-CT2CG0050/G a mid-resolution GigE inspection camera. The 2/3-inch Stacked BSI CMOS sensor exposes all 2448 × 2048 pixels globally and uses a 3.45 µm pitch. Bayer GR 8 reaches the stated rate with lossless compression, while the C-mount leaves focal length and working geometry open to the application.

The image size suits colour defect checks, assembly verification and dimensional work on moving components that need more sampling than 2048 × 1536. High Sensitivity exposure begins at 5 µs, and Trigger Width or Trigger Controlled modes align capture with a part. PoE supports single-link data and power; separate M12 control and M8 I/O connections are also present.

MV-CT2CG0032/G runs faster at 77.5 fps but provides 2048 × 1536. MV-CT2CG0089/G expands the frame to 4096 × 2160 on a 1-inch sensor and drops to 32.5 fps. For the same 2448 × 2048 and global shutter over USB 3.0, MV-CT2CU0050/G reaches 80 fps; the /16LC/WN GigE version instead packages a 16 mm liquid lens and white light.

Selection and applications

Colour defect inspection on moving parts. Five-megapixel assembly verification. Triggered GigE dimensional checks.

Minimum kit: MV-CT2CG0050/G, a 2/3-inch C-mount lens, an 8-pin M12 X-Code GigE cable, and either PoE or a 9–24 V DC supply.

Nearby in the range: MV-CT2CG0032/G — Prefer it for 77.5 fps when 2048 × 1536 is sufficient.; MV-CT2CG0089/G — Prefer it for wider 4096 × 2160 colour sampling at 32.5 fps.; MV-CT2CU0050/G — Prefer it for the same 2448 × 2048 format over USB 3.0 at 80 fps..

FAQ

Which lenses are offered for the standard 5 MP C-mount configuration?

MVL-KF1628M-12MP and MVL-KF5024M-25MP are offered. Their image circles cover the 2/3-inch sensor, and both optical resolution classes are above the approximately 5 MP produced by the 2448 × 2048 sensor.

What power arrangement is available for MV-CT2CG0050/G over Ethernet?

The Gigabit Ethernet connection supports PoE, while a 9–24 V DC feed can be applied through the M8 A-Code connector. Typical draw is 1.6 W at 24 V DC with fast heat balance disabled and no external device controlled.

Which settings underlie the full-resolution 59.2 fps result?

The rate applies at 2448 × 2048 in Bayer GR 8 with lossless compression enabled. The data port is 1000 Mbit/s Gigabit Ethernet on an 8-pin M12 X-Code connector, and the interface remains compatible with 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet.

How short is exposure when the 5 MP camera is used on moving parts?

High Sensitivity mode starts at 5 µs and extends to 10 sec; High Full Well Capacity mode runs from 30 µs to 10 sec. The sensor uses a global shutter, with Trigger Width and Trigger Controlled modes available for synchronization.

What changes in the MV-CT2CG0050/G/16LC/WN variant?

Resolution and 59.2 fps imaging remain the same. The /16LC/WN version replaces the externally selected lens arrangement with an integrated C-mount 16 mm liquid lens and white light, increasing the complete dimensions from 42 mm × 42 mm × 43 mm to 77 mm × 77 mm × 123.8 mm.
