How to choose

The refocusing range is set by the camera, not the lens: the liquid element shifts focus between the 0.1 m minimum object distance and infinity. Focal length is chosen as for any fixed-focal lens — from working distance and field width; a 1.1″ sensor is 14.1 mm wide, so a 200 mm field at 300 mm needs ≈ 21 mm.
